Late last term, Xavier students from Year 11 and 12, Karli Chan, Caitlin McBain and Takysha Brennan attended the Red25 Youth Ambassador Training Day with Cathy Chapman.
Representatives from schools located in the Riverina area of New South Wales and Victoria came together in Albury to learn about the benefits of donating blood.
The majority of donated blood goes to people with cancer, as well as people who have suffered traumatic accidents, burns or those undergoing surgery. Few students realise that by donating blood they can save lives, and each donation can help save the lives of three patients.
The Red Cross donation groups are working together to provide 25% of all required donations by the end of 2015.
In order to meet this target, Xavier High School will have an inter-house competition and launch an awareness campaign to encourage family and friends*, to donate blood.
