Success at Eisteddford

On Tuesday 26 July the Concert Band competed in the Albury Wodonga Eisteddfod in the Junior

Secondary Bands section. With assistance from our more experienced student tutors, we performed

‘Rock-a- Bop Blues’, which is our three favourite pieces spliced into a medley. We placed SECOND!!!!

The adjudicator made special mention of the strong efforts from the Bass Guitar, 1 st Flute, Drum Kit and

Saxophone parts. Thanks also to Mr Garth McKenna for his invaluable support on the day.

Competing was a particularly exciting and scary event for the majority of the band members, as half of

them have been playing their instrument for less than one year and have never before played in a

musical ensemble such as this – a remarkable achievement!

So what did we learn? Several things:

 No matter what level your playing is, you can make a contribution to a team. Everyone is

 With the support of other band members, scary performances can be done and done well!

 Courage

 There is more to do if we are going to be even better next year…. That Tallangatta band is stiff
