Last Friday evening Ms McKinley and Ms Aranda took some students from our school to the Stronger Rally in Mooroopna. They converged with over 100 students who gathered for about three hours from around the Sandhurst diocese and beyond to celebrate their faith, sing, dance, worship, pray, relax and just have fun. It was a time to realise that you are not alone, and a time to be nourished, encouraged and equipped on our walk with Jesus.
The Rallies are always fun and faith-filled occasions, with a lot of buzz and excitement. At the Rally, Fr. Rob and various other young musicians put on a concert and everyone joined in singing to some very beautiful and inspiring songs.
The time for Eucharistic Adoration of Jesus Christ, present amongst all of us, was quite special. The Holy Eucharist was displayed in a special holder called a monstrance. Christ showed us his great love when he was crucified on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins and give us eternal life. He loves us without limit, and offers Himself to us in the Holy sacrament of the Eucharist. For us to give Jesus a few minutes of love and adoration in return, listening to the inspirational words and music or Fr. Rob in the background, was a heart-warming experience.
Another highlight of the evening included a panel discussion where young people were able to SMS questions about their faith for the panel to answer. Our students especially participated in this activity and posed several questions, one about saints, which was particular relevant as the Feast of Saint Mary Mackillop was celebrated that day.
The Xavier students who attended definitely had a faith enriching experience, networked with many Catholic youth from a neighbour diocese, and could worship and pray while singing and dancing loudly. It was a grace-filled evening.
The next Rally will be held on Friday, October 17 in Yarrawonga, and will provide an opportunity for young people to celebrate their faith in a fun environment. The Rally will include praise and worship with Stronger chaplain, Fr Rob Galea and a talk on this year’s theme ‘The Truth Will Set You Free’ (Jn 8:32).
This is an invitation to all Xavier students to join in these amazing events!
