The 2017/2018 Rixon Cup Grand Final was played between Xavier High School and Albury High School on Monday the 5th of March. Having played the previous two finals against each other, both schools were keen to record a victory.
Xavier’s Luke Dahl won the toss and elected to bat. Ethan Moore (26) and Tyler Roberson (61) got off to a great start, adding 41 for the first wicket. Consistent partnerships throughout enabled Xavier to make a total of 7/195 off our 40 overs. Eddie Keogh was another notable performer with a well compiled 33 before being judged leg before wicket.
In reply, Albury High School started steadily moving to 2/41 after 15 overs. With the run rate climbing due to some tight bowling from all of our bowlers, Albury needed to lift the scoring to stay in the game. An inspired spell of bowling, including a double hat trick, from Jack Heriot (4/7) stifled any efforts Albury made to get back in the game.
All in all, a wonderful day and we thank Albury High for a great match!
