Year 8 student, Mackenzy Muller came within three hundredths of a second of posting a qualifying time for the Australia Age Swimming Championships.
Muller claimed gold in the 13 years 50m freestyle at the NSW Combined Catholic Colleges (CCC) championships against the state’s best swimmers from Catholic schools at Sydney Olympic Park, putting together a near-perfect swim.
“It was a big one, she had her heart set on that (getting a national qualifying time).” Mackenzy’s father Dan Muller said.
“She’s a very tough little sport.”
Muller also took home silver in the 100m freestyle at the championships and will progress onto the NSW All Schools event for both disciplines on May 12.
If she finishes in the top three at that event, Muller will qualify for the Pacific School Games in Adelaide in December.
Muller trains with Albury Swim Club under head coach Wayne Gould.
