In week three of this term, six of our Year 11 boys were fortunate enough to experience the community of Yuendumu in the Northern Territory. This experience exposed our boys to the indigenous culture of the Walpiri people that inhabit these lands. The majority of our time was spent in the classrooms at the local school working alongside the local children, which proved to be a very enriching experience.
When not in the local school, the boys were taken to a number of sacred Aboriginal sites in the area. This time was spent with Aboriginal elders learning about the dreaming stories significant to the Walpiri people. This was a fantastic opportunity for our boys to take part in and all represented the whole Xavier High School in excellent fashion.
