HSC Creative Writing Workshops

Australian Author Craig Dent has a Bachelor of Teaching and Bachelor of Arts in Professional Writing. Funded three times by the Literature Board of the Australia Council for the Arts, his work is now being showcased by Regional Arts Australia at Melbourne Art Book Fair 2018.

Craig empowers Year 11 & 12 HSC students with how to create new concepts, structure, and plan for story writing, and this is also available for Years 7 to 10. The workshop enhances creativity, as writing and composing texts with innovative ideas can be very challenging.

The workshop focuses on syllabus outcomes for creative writing; developing authentic settings and characters, three-act structure; response to visual stimuli; planning, drafting and editing; and strategies for writing at home.

Craig was commissioned by North East CMA in 2016 to write a book on Benambra, is a Writer in Residence at Macquarie Primary, Canberra, for their 50th-anniversary book, and is to be a guest author at Clunes Booktown Festival & Daylesford’s Words of Winter Festival in 2018.

Craig is available at $100 per hour, inclusive of travel. Students engaged in the workshop receive free entry in Dreamfields Creative Youth Awards at Henty Machinery Field Days 2018, which includes $3K in-kind prizes and an exchange opportunity to Somerset Rural Youth Project in the UK.
