Diocesan Music Camp

This is an invitation to all the budding musicians of the Wagga Wagga Diocese for an expression of interest. We have an exciting opportunity for students to participate in the first ever whole Diocesan Music Camp to be held in the second week of the first term school holidays from the 20th -22nd April. This is a wonderful opportunity for all musicians, both instrumental and vocal, to come together and experience the challenges and camaraderie that making music brings.
The main focus of this camp will be to learn some of the music of renowned International guest, spiritual composer, John Angotti, who has come out to Australia specifically to perform for a CSO Diocesan All of System staff ‘Nourish2Thrive’ Conference to be held at the Mater Dei Campuses in Wagga, at the start of term 2. By taking part in this Music Camp, students will be making the commitment to be available on Tuesday 26th and Wednesday 27th April to participate in this Conference .
This will be 2 days filled with small group ensemble tuition as well as larger group work and will be a great chance to improve your musicianship, whilst having a fun and enjoyable time mixing with other like minded peers.
You will have the opportunity to accompany and/or sing John’s uplifting music as well as a selection of other music genres.
We also aim to give you the opportunity to have some of your own jamming time with the people who you meet over the time that you may wish to collaborate with.
There will also be a choice of non-musical activities offered for fun and relaxation.

The majority of the camp will be held at Kildare, with the students staying in Mt Erin boarding House. On the final day, Friday 22nd April, the students will be transported over to Mater Dei in order to rehearse at the performance venue. At the conclusion of the camp we will be inviting the families of participants to come and see and hear what all the students have been working on and will be able to go home straight after this event.

This invitation is going out to all the High Schools of the Diocese for the students who would be interested in participating instrumentally as well vocally. As a special introductory offer, participation will cost the bargain price of $50, which includes accommodation, all meals, tuition of sessions, a T-shirt and transport on the Friday to Mater Dei College. We hope to make this camp a regular event on the calendar, however it will not always be so inexpensive.

There may be limited opportunities for parental assistance at the camp. Please indicate your interest and in what capacity below.

Students who are interested in being a part of this experience, are asked to please complete the information form included and return it by Monday 8/2/16 or see your music teacher asap. Further information will follow once we have a clearer idea of numbers of participants.
