On Thursday 21 May Xavier’s U14 AFL teams competed in the Bill Taylor Cup (Div 1) and Bill Taylor Shield (Div 2) Carnival held at Xavier Oval 1 and 2. Nine schools from Albury and surrounding High Schools competed in the all day carnival in an attempt to be the eventual regional winner. The games consisted of 2 x 10 minutes halves. Xavier’s results for the day were as follows:

Xavier enjoyed a solid day, winning all of their pool games. They included a one-sided win against Murray HS, with George Favero kicking 3 goals and Adam Martin and Nazar Asani outstanding in the midfield and a solid win against Billabong, with Daniel Turner, Pat Parnell and Tyler Roberson stepping up in the middle and Jack Mitsch great down back. The semi against Scots was dominated by Xavier. Eddie Keogh (5 goals), Adam Martin and Charlie Langford led Xavier to a solid victory. In the final Albury HS proved a tough opponent and in a closely contested match Xavier came from a goal down to take a 5 point lead to halftime. In the second half scores were quickly levelled, before Xavier kicked two goals to take a match winning lead of 11 points with minutes to play. However, Albury rallied and kicked the next two goals which included a goal after the siren to record a thrilling (heartbreaking) 1 point victory. Xavier’s better players on the day were Adam Martin, Nazar Asani, Eddie Keogh, Charlie Langford, Jack Mitsch and Tyler Roberson.
