AWSSNA Carnival

On Thursday July 20th our Xavier Junior, intermediate and senior teams battled it out on the J.C. King Park Courts at the AWSSNA Carnival.

A message from our coaches –

Xavier A came though to the finals after beating Billabong, St Pauls and Corowa.  B grade got through to the finals after beating Murray, St Pauls and Billabong and a narrow loss to Scots School.

Both teams came up against each other in the Semi final with Xavier A taking the win by 1 goal.

Xavier A played Scots in the grand final and came away with a convincing win.

Intermediates – Both A and B teams finished top of their pools so avoided facing each other in the semis. The A team cruised past Corowa, however the B team had a draw with Billabong at full time before going down by 2 goals in extra time. The grand final between the A team and Billabong was tight at half time (8 a piece) before some positional changes at half time allowed the girls to pull ahead and win by 5.

Seniors – Played well all day to finish second. They faced Scots in the semi, who they drew with in round matches. Scots had the upper hand in a close battle of the mid court with a 2 point win. Well played by the girls who only had 7 due to a last minute injury/sickness.

A big well done to all students involved! We are very proud of you.

A big thank you to Mrs Meani, Miss Baines, Mrs Lieschke and Mrs Scammell as well as our umpires (Kelsey, Claire, Bonnie and Kacie) and the Yr 9 PASS girls who helped in the canteen and office to ensure the day went smoothly.
